J.D. Roberts
Finstincts Founder
J.D. is an all around outdoorsman, and cowboy. He cut his teeth in 2011 guiding horse packed fly-fishing trips in Yellowstone, and has fished all throughout the American west, fishing over 200 rivers. Since he has been back home in Texas, he has been laser focused on the Brazos River. He has made a name for himself, catching some of the largest bass to come out of the Brazos. He’s spends over 225 days on the river throughout the year, tracking the patterns of every species the river has to offer. That includes the multitude of wild game, and waterfowl that roams our beautiful river. JD has a gift for translating his knowledge to others, and a true passion for getting people from all walks of life on the water.
Kade Wooton
Kade is a hunter, fisherman, and a darn good cowboy. He has fished with Finstincts for over a decade, from Costa Rica to the Canadian Rockies. He is well versed in hunting predatory fish and will stop at nothing to put you on them. When he isn't catching 5+ lbs Tiger Bass, he is hunting goat and sheep around the world. He spends half of his year in exotic locations and coordinates fishing trips. We are proud to call him a friend, and anyone would be lucky to spend a day on the river with him!
Preston Wilson
Preston is the most knowledgeable fly fisherman on our team. A master fly casting instructor and true artist at the fly tying vice. His Finstincts are strong in the fresh water and the salt. He not only hunts large bass, but also specializes in trophy carp and gar on the fly! Preston served our country as United States Marine and was stationed on the Carolina coast, where he mastered his Striper fishing game. Whether you want to catch your first fish or break a water body record, Preston is the best fishing coach around.
Brian Andrews
When Brian is not on tour filming concerts or hunts in the backcountry, he's out on the river with us! Brian is a true river man. His love for the game is contagious and his ability to translate and teach is something special. Any day spent with Brian is sure to be a blast!
Josh Oakley
Head of fly design and development, Josh can tie some of the best big flies to ever hit the water! He has the ability to teach anglers of all ages and skill levels. His patience is unwavering. You will leave a better angler when you spend a day with Josh on the river!
Cole Risinger
Cole is not only good at catching largemouth bass, he's a great casting instructor and a wealth of knowledge on gear. When he's not holding down the fort at Orvis Dallas, you'll find him on the river hunting Tiger Bass with us!
Paul Parman
With 40+ years experience Paul brings a wealth of knowledge to the team and helps keep our "Finstincts" sharp. Paul knows more about big bass than they know about themselves. None of us are more in tune with the water than Paul!
Beau Kelley
Beau is a cowboy, hunter, fly fisherman, and all around top hand in the woods and water. If you book a spring turkey hunt on the river, he will put you on the birds and the bass!
Dangerous Dan
Dangerous is the funnest fishing guide you will ever meet. He has the best jokes, the most patience, and more experience than anyone on the team. All of our clients love Dan and so do the BIG FISH!
